How to Clean Leather Car Seats Like A Professional!

Leather seats, who doesn’t love them? They add a touch of class and style to your vehicle's interior.

Leather seats make your car feel and look luxurious. However, this is only if the leather is in good condition.

Cleaning your leather seats is an important step in maintaining them. Regular cleaning of your leather seats will get rid of dust and dirt that accumulates on the surface of the seats.

Dirt, dust and grime will not only stain and discolour the leather, but it can also cause it to harden and crack over time.

Regular cleaning is a great opportunity to avoid damage of the leather as a result of day to day wear and tear.

If you want to enjoy your leather seats for longer, maintaining the seats is worth the time, effort and money.

Why you should use a specialised leather cleaning product

It is important to understand that leather requires more attention than the synthetic materials often used on vehicle seats.

Leather is just like your skin. It will become dry and brittle when exposed to heat and light from the sun, due to the loss of moisture.

Nourishing the leather with a hydrating product will maintain its appearance and texture.

It's also worth remembering, that while leather is a hardy material, it succumbs to the wear and tear of daily use.  The busier your car, the more care and attention your seats will need.

With these factors in mind, it is important to choose a product which will gently cleanse the leather, while nourishing it with moisture, and protecting it against further wear and tear.

CRC leather cleaner & conditioner is a unique 3 in 1 formulation that safely cleans, moisturises and protects leather surfaces in one easy step.

The gentle cleansers in this product will safely deep clean the car leather, lifting dirt, stains and spills.

The leather conditioner, with rich conditioning agents and natural oils, will moisturise the leather for a beautiful natural look.

This product has the added perk of providing your seats with a long-lasting protective barrier against UV damage.

Steps to clean your leather car seats

1.  Remove loose dirt

Start by taking all of the rubbish out of your car, and give it a good vacuum to remove loose crumbs, soil and other particles on the surface of the seat.

Make sure to use the vacuum, to get rid of particles that are lodged between cracks and crevices.

Be gentle, ensuring you don't scratch, tear or damage the leather.

2.Treat spills and stains as they happen
Soak up spills as soon as possible to remove as much of the moisture as possible.

Dampen a clean, white coloured cloth with warm water, and blot, blot, blot, removing as much of the stain as possible.

If required, you can liberally sprinkle corn-starch over the affected area, and leave overnight.  This will absorb any residual moisture from the area. Vacuum the corn-starch off the following day, and move to the next step.

Of course, leather that is regularly treated with CRC leather cleaner and conditioner, will have the benefit of a residual protective layer over the leather. This aids in the prevention of stains and discolouration from dirt and unwanted spills.

3.  Apply leather cleaner and conditioner

Never apply your product directly onto the leather.  It's best to spray the leather cleaner and conditioner onto a clean microfibre cloth, and apply it to the leather in small circular motions.

Work systematically, applying more product as required, until all of the leather in your car is treated.

When the leather loses its lustrous shine, it's time for another application.  The length of time between treatments will depend on how you use your car.

Summary

Leather seats are a great addition to any vehicle interior. They will make your car feel and look luxurious.

However, proper maintenance is required to keep the leather in its best condition.

Failure to maintain your seats could result in the seats becoming damaged. This will drastically reduce the value of your car. Use the tips above to keep your leather seats in the best shape possible.
