7 industrial uses for paint marker pens

Paint marker pens are extremely practical and a great addition to your toolkit. There are many industries that make use of paint marker pens and seven of the most common include:

Metal Working

In the metalworking industry, paint marker pens are perfect for part assembly and marking specific parts for identification. Paint marker pens are widely used in metalworking, and the tough, durable, and water-resistant finish is ideal for use on a variety of metal surfaces.

Whilst paint marker pens are not truly permanent – they can be cleaned off using high-pressure washers or a thinning solvent, they offer a long-lasting finish that requires specific cleaning to remove.

Construction

The construction industry is another that widely uses paint marker pens for a variety of tasks. From building sites to road construction to civil engineering, paint pens are used on steel beams, framing, concrete, bricks, and blocks for identification, helping to clearly mark locations where specific materials are required.

Within the construction industry, paint marker pens can also be used to mark out cut lines on specific materials. They can also be used to mark out the location of breakers or rooftop controls, making follow-up visits and maintenance much easier.

Logistics and stock management

Within the logistics and stock management sector, paint marker pens are used for identification purposes and can be applied to shelving, palettes, plastic film, and labels. Many warehouses use paint marker pens to identify what products should be located on which shelves, and the palettes or film wrap of those corresponding products can be marked up with matching identifying marks.

Paint marker pens can also be used for labelling purposes, offering an alternative to permanent marker pens.

Electrical installations and quality control

Paint pens are extremely versatile, and within the electrical installation sector, they are widely used by electricians and technicians to colour code cables, wires, connectors, conduits, controls, fittings and instruments. They can also be used to mark breakers and identify socket locations in major industrial premises.

In Quality Control, paint markers can be used to identify issues or to mark elements as a pass or fail.

Forestry and landscaping

Paint marker pens are ideal for use in the forestry and landscaping sectors, as the paint does not penetrate wood. This makes paint marker pens ideal for marking trees for felling, identifying trees with disease, or even marking areas that have been sprayed with pesticide or areas where traps have been set.  Sometimes in our outdoor spaces, you will see ribbon tied to trees and branches to indicate certain features, however, these can be ripped off in bad weather, whereas paint marker pens offer a more permanent solution.

Laboratories

Paint marker pens can be used on a wide range of surfaces, which makes them perfect for use in laboratories where they can be used to mark up glass, metal, and plastic containers, as well as being used for labelling in the lab.

CRC Paint Marker Pens come in a wide range of colours making them versatile around the laboratory for colour coding specific items.

Site inspection

Similar to quality control, paint markers are great for site inspection work where specific parts can be marked for identification purposes or marked with required actions. As paint marker pens can be used on a wide range of surfaces, they can be used for site inspections that are both internal and external.
