CRC Black Zinc 400ml
DESCRIPTION
CRC Black Zinc combines the superior rust-inhibiting properties of zinc with a tough but flexible enamel coating and a coloured finish. High levels of anti-corrosive zinc complexes are embedded in a resin system, which forms a quick-drying, highly protective enamel coating with excellent adhesion to bare metal. CRC Black Zinc resists undercutting and blistering from corrosion by forming an effective corrosion barrier. For ultimate protection, prime the metal surface with CRC Zinc It beforehand. To achieve a high film build, use CRC Prep It as an intermediate coat if required. Ongoing protection can be achieved through simple re-coating within 3 years, depending on conditions. Protection in extreme conditions may require re-application more frequently.
Applications
CRC Black Zinc is recommended to be used on structural steel, frames, welded seams, spot welding repairs, rivet holes, signs, signposts, pipes, roofs, transformers, transmission towers, earth pegs, water tanks, tank stands, fences, gates, animal raceways in milking sheds and yards, farm implements and tractor draw bars, metal junction, terminal boxes, pump equipment, corrugated metal buildings, boats and boat trailers, shackles, winches, draw bars, subframes, wheel and guards, cars and caravans, inner door panels, tow bars, exhaust tail pipes and wheel protection under hub caps. Great for galvanised products which have been cut, drilled or welded. On iron railings, roofing and spouting, gutters, plumbing, ducting, radio and TV aerials, outdoor fixtures, hinges, fences and gates, wrought iron, air conditioning and refrigeration units. Industrial equipment and machinery, machine housings, bridges, guard rails, and lamp stands.

CRC Black Zinc is zinc-enriched for corrosion protection - High levels of anti-corrosive zinc complexes in the dried film, embedded in a protective enamel coating. Excellent adhesive qualities – Forms a tough coat for long-term protection. Heat Resistance – Up to 120°C. Corrosion protection – Corrosion Protection Factor 36 (up to 3 years before recoating is necessary, depending on conditions). Fast drying – Touch dry in 20 minutes, recoat within 30 minutes, full cure in 24 hours. Easy re-application over existing film and/or clean surfaces – For ongoing protection. Single coat – No overcoating required. Does not contain CFCs or methylene chloride. MPI Approved C23 (All Animal Products Except Dairy).
CRC Black Zinc is ideal for outdoor protection of metals against rust. It can be used directly on bare metal for touch-up or coating. CRC Black Zinc will outlast standard paint systems. The dried coat is scratch & solvent resistant. Typically, CRC Black Zinc will provide 36 months of protection against rust in a moderately corrosive outdoor environment when a dry film thickness of 65 microns is applied. If additional protection is required, coat first with CRC Zinc It.
Preparation:
- Loose rust and scale must be removed with a wire brush or similar
- Remove grease and oil with CRC Brakleen or a similar degreaser
- Where possible, abrade the surface with a disc grinder, wire brush, or sandpaper
Application:
- Shake the can until the agitator ball is moving freely, and then for at least one further minute to ensure the content is thoroughly mixed
- Apply to a clean, dry surface with light black coats to ensure perfect results
- Hold the can 15-20cm from the surface when spraying
- Apply in 2-3 light coats rather than 1 heavy one to avoid runs
When finished spraying, clean the valve by turning the can upside down and pressing the button until only pressure escapes. If clogging occurs, remove the button, clean the slot and orifice with a wire and replace carefully.
Drying and Recoating:
- Coating will become touch-dry in 10-20 minutes. Full cure will take 24 hours
- Contents of the can will cover 2.5m²
